Here at WIC, we work with all moms to support their infant feeding goals. If it is your goal to breastfeed your baby, WIC offers the tools and support to help you achieve this goal!
Here’s how:
- Increased foods for breastfeeding women. When you choose to breastfeed, your WIC food package will have more foods. Plus, you’ll receive foods for yourself until your baby turns 1 year old!
- We have specialized lactation staff. You’ll have free access to credentialed lactation staff who can offer assistance with latching your baby and much more. We also have staff who have not only received special training, but are also moms who have breastfed a baby themselves. These are our Breastfeeding Peer Counselors, available anytime when you have questions or concerns along your breastfeeding journey!
- We’ll loan you a hospital-grade breast pump– for free. If you’re in need of a breast pump, you may be eligible to borrow one from us. You must be a current WIC client and have an assessment with one of our lactation staff. You may qualify for a pump loan if you: are going back to work or school; you or your baby are sick and unable to breastfeed; have concerns with your milk supply.
