January: Resolve to Move!

It’s the New Year!! Time for new beginnings, reflection, and New Year’s resolutions!

If you have experienced previous New Years with the high expectations of “losing a certain amount of pounds” or “going to they gym every day” & have found yourself right back where you started… (ahem, we understand… join the club) this is for you!

Studies show that people who concentrate on quick weight loss time & time again (known as yo-yo dieting) end up gaining weight in the long run!! Here is an idea… throw the idea of weight loss out the window! Instead of getting caught up in numbers, try focusing on increasing healthy habits for yourself and your family & let weight worry about itself!

Our bodies were made to live, breathe, enjoy, move, help, the list goes on and on! So instead of concentrating on a weight loss number, let’s try focusing on enjoying moving our bodies with our families! Here are a few examples…

Healthy Habits for Healthy Families…

  • Make quality time to move together as a family even during the winter!
  • Take a walk
  • Go snow shoeing
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator
  • Play hide and seek inside
  • Go sledding
  • Make a snowman/ snow angels
  • Shovel your next door neighbor’s driveway together as a nice gesture
  • Dance around the house
  • Ice Skate
  • Play in the snow
